Turks living in Europe have great interest in Ottoman Turkish. Many of them feel sorry for not being able to attend the courses due to being away from the course centres. And they insistently ask for courses to be opened in their neighbourhood as well.

Course attendees from various cities of the Netherland received their Ottoman Turkish course certificates in the ceremony held in Soest Fatih Mosque.

The program started with the opening of Mr İsmail Turgut, course coordinator of Holland.

Mr Duran Üzüm recited Qur’an al-Kareem first.

Then, Mr Salih Canöz gave a speech enriched with Ottoman Turkish vocabulary; audience listened to the speech with great interest.

Holland religious affairs attaché Mr Yusuf Acar made an inspiring speech in the ceremony, recalling our past, emphasizing how valuable every Muslim living in Europe is, and pointing out that a generation will meet with its past through these courses.

Hayrat Foundation Belgium representative Mr Muhammed Atay made a presentation titled “A thousand-year adventure: Ottoman Turkish.” The presentation took the audience to the past and eliminated the prejudices about Ottoman Turkish. The current situation of the courses in Europe and the future plans were also shared in the presentation.

Course attendees shared their thoughts as well. They thanked the Ministry of National Education of Turkey, Hayrat Foundation, and the course teachers. They expressed gratitude to İsmail Turgut, Sedat Yanar, and Murat Arsoy in particular for organizing the courses in the Netherland.

Certificates of the course attendees who completed the first and second level courses in Kampen, Amersfoort, and Soest were presented by their teachers.

The course first started in March 2015 in the Netherland. The third level course continues in Amersfoort; a new first level course continues in Kampen; and the second level has just started in Amsterdam.
